NEM 3.0, batteries, permits, warranties, incentives and getting started—explained in plain English.
Answers for homeowners.
What is NEM 3.0?
California’s current net-billing tariff (NBT) pays a lower rate for solar you export to the grid. That makes self-consumption and home battery storage more valuable than under the old NEM 2.0.
Do I need a battery?
Not required, but a battery lets you use your solar in the evening and during outages—and captures more value under NEM 3.0. Many California homeowners add one for backup power.
How long do permits and activation take?
Design and permits usually take the most time; installation is typically one to two days. We give you a clear timeline and handle city and utility steps.
What warranties come with the system?
Panels carry 25-year performance warranties and inverters 10–25 years; we include 10-year workmanship coverage. We will detail exact terms for your proposal.
How much does a home system cost?
It depends on roof, usage and battery size. With the 30% federal credit and $0-down options, many homeowners start saving from month one. We model your exact numbers from a recent bill.
Who claims the 30% federal tax credit?
If you own the system (loan or cash), you claim the Residential Clean Energy Credit on your taxes. We prepare the documentation.
Is there a battery rebate?
Yes—California’s SGIP program offers battery incentives, with extra adders for equity and resiliency. We check your eligibility and file the paperwork.
What if my roof is old or shaded?
We assess roof condition and shading during the free assessment. If solar isn’t a fit, we’ll tell you honestly rather than oversell.
Will my power stay on during blackouts?
With a home battery and backup mode, essentials (fridge, Wi-Fi, lights, medical devices) can stay on during a grid outage.
Can my HOA stop me?
California law (Civil Code 4741) generally prevents HOAs from blocking solar installs. We provide the documentation your HOA needs.
Do you serve my utility?
We install for PG&E, SCE and SDG&E customers across California. Check your address in the free quote form to confirm.
