What Is a Containerized Hybrid Power Station?

A containerized hybrid power station is a complete solar-battery-diesel power system pre-engineered, factory-built, and tested inside a standard ISO 20ft or 40ft shipping container. It arrives on site ready to connect. The site prep work is reduced to a concrete pad and cable landing.

This approach transforms project timelines. A traditional power plant takes 12-18 months from order to commissioning. A containerized system ships in 8-12 weeks and commissions in 2-4 weeks. Total project time: 3-4 months.

Standard Configuration: 20ft Container

PV INPUT
100-300 kWp
BATTERY
200-500 kWh
DIESEL
100-500 kVA
PCS
100-250 kW

What’s Inside the Container

Power Equipment

  • Hybrid PCS (bidirectional inverter)
  • MPPT solar charge controllers
  • AC distribution panel (LV)
  • MV transformer (optional, 6.6-33kV)
  • Generator changeover switch
  • Surge protection devices

Control & Monitoring

  • EMS controller (energy management)
  • HMI touchscreen
  • SCADA gateway with 4G/IoT
  • Power meters and protection relays
  • Fire detection and suppression

Battery Storage

  • LiFePO₄ battery modules (racked)
  • Battery management system (BMS)
  • Thermal management (HVAC)
  • DC combiner boxes and protection

Container Features

  • ISO 20ft or 40ft high-cube
  • Insulated walls (50mm rockwool)
  • HVAC for climate control
  • LED lighting and emergency exits
  • Cable entry glands, IP66
  • Anti-vibration equipment mounts
  • Container lifting points (ISO 1161)

Why Containerize? Five Operational Advantages

🚚 Plug-and-Play

Pre-commissioned at factory. On-site work is just cable connection. Commissioning in days, not months.

📦 Transport-Ready

Standard ISO dimensions. Ships by sea, road, or rail. No oversize permits. Corner castings for any handling equipment.

💧 Climate-Controlled

Insulated walls + HVAC protect batteries and electronics from -30°C to +55°C ambient.

🔨 Modular & Scalable

Start with one container. Add more as load grows. Parallel up to 10 units. No design change needed.

📍 Relocatable

End of mine? End of construction project? Pick up and move to the next site. Capital cost is preserved.

Common Applications

Containerized hybrid power stations are deployed worldwide in:

Mining operations — 100kW-5MW systems
Telecom towers — 5-50kW per site
Island resorts — 200kW-2MW
Construction camps — 50-500kW
Military bases — Tactical power
Disaster response — Emergency power
Oil & gas fields — 100kW-1MW
Remote villages — First-time electrification

Lifecycle Economics

Containerized systems have compelling economics across the full lifecycle:

  • Initial cost: 10-20% higher than stick-built equivalent, but installation savings recover this within the first project
  • Installation: 80% reduction in on-site labor hours; no specialist trades required for typical deployment
  • Commissioning: 2-4 weeks vs 3-6 months for stick-built. Faster revenue start.
  • Operation: 50-80% OPEX reduction (diesel, maintenance, site visits)
  • Relocation: Pick up and redeploy—capital cost preserved across multiple project sites
  • End of life: 90%+ of components recyclable; battery modules recovered for second-life applications

Customization Options

While we have standard reference designs, almost every project requires some customization. Common customizations include:

  • Voltage levels: 380V, 400V, 415V, 480V, 6.6kV, 11kV, 22kV, 33kV
  • Frequency: 50Hz or 60Hz
  • Color: Standard RAL 7035, custom colors available
  • Climate package: Arctic (-40°C) to tropical (+55°C) operation
  • Communication: Modbus, IEC 61850, DNP3, 4G/IoT, satellite
  • Certifications: CE, UL, ATEX, IECEx, country-specific
  • Branding: Custom nameplates, paint, and documentation

Our engineering team works with you to specify exactly what your project needs, then builds to that specification. No two projects are identical—but the underlying platform is proven across 200+ installations.
